IoT Devices Security

Short Song Description and Distribution Details

Lately almost every home have at least one IoT (Internet of Thing) device, starting from basics like oh I don know, robot vacuum, up tp WiFi and smart connected lights, WiFi connected AC’s etc. and most of them are – yeah, it’s fine, just fine, one password, they need opened SSID to work, OK. More apps on phone, sure why not I can use it remotely.
But did you ever think about security? No? Well, hackers and OPSec fellas don’t sleep, they just wait for those who don’t update firmware, have opened networks and even use same passwords for all apps and didn’t tried to make dedicated home WiFi network just for IoT which is now easy with modern routers.
This song is about that.

Lyrics

In every home
There is now on WiFi
At least one IoT device
But security, what’s that?

Opened router networks as devices needed them
No password and visible SSID
Hackers best day in life
Or even OPSec guy

Oh security for IoT
Think about it
Not everybody needs to know your Robot Vacuum SSID
Or even need all apps to have same passwords

Oh security, security
Move your things from public
To Home Assistant
Or locally protected network

Oh security, security
Move your things from public
To Home Assistant
Or locally protected network

Even if it needs to have apps
Fellas, use different passwords
And even better
Move IoT devices to own WiFi network

Oh security, security
Move your things from public
To Home Assistant
Or locally protected network

Oh security, security
Move your things from public
To Home Assistant
Or locally protected network

Away from home your devices still ping
Notifications tell what’s happening
Disable geotracking when you can
Private networks only, that’s the plan
Public WiFi? Don’t trust the login
Mobile hotspot better for sensitive mining
App updates patch holes in the gate
Security travels wherever you ate

Out there or here, the threat stays near
Encrypt everything, stay alert dear
Zero trust model, verify all
Because hackers don’t take a holiday call

Oh security, security
Move your things from public
To Home Assistant
Or locally protected network

Oh security, security
Move your things from public
To Home Assistant
Or locally protected network

Secure by default
Stay safe out there
